15/250: The Blind Side
Holy shit this movie was good!  I heard this movie was great, but that was from a bunch of old people who thought Invictus was good.  But The Blind Side is awesome!  Sandra Bullock is spectacular, not because she’s a sassy ass kicker, but because of the subtle emotion she gives at the perfect moments.  I started crying about 20 minutes in and had a really hard time keeping it together...

14/250: The Stepfather
Let me start by saying I love this of movie.  The “totally crazy psychopath is so sweet and the troubled protagonist knows he’s crazy, but everyone the protagonist cares about loves the psychopath.”  I don’t know why but I get a huge kick out it.  Dylan Walsh plays David Harris, a psycho who hunts divorcees and widowers, seduces them and then murders their families....

13/250: Law Abiding Citizen
Turns out…this movie was pretty bad ass.  Sure, there were a few eye rolls here and there and when it was over you say, “Why didn’t they do this?”  But overall, it was pretty great.  What I loved most about this film is I don’t know who was the protagonist or the antagonist.  You don’t know who you were supposed to be rooting for throughout the whole movie....

12/250: Gigantic
I was expecting an indie movie for the sake of being an indie movie and that’s pretty much what I got.  Basically if you make a movie about really boring people, shoot it weird, get some crappy music, you’ve got yourself an indie film.  I’m sure this movie was about stuff that you had to think about…but when you feel absolutely NOTHING about the characters, it’s...

11/250: Armored
Like all modern trailers, this one gave WAY too much away.  The first half of the movie actually.  But I guess it did its job because I couldn’t wait to see this film.  There’s a line in Miracle where Kurt Russell says, “I’m not looking for the best players, I’m looking for the right players.”  That’s exactly what this movie is.  Matt Dillon, Jean Reno...

10/250: Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans
This movie looked super weird but I was very intrigued as to why it was on a lot of top 10 lists.  Now I understand.  I think this is a love it or hate it film.  I actually loved it.  It’s really rough, long, and hard to get through…but I think it’s worth it.  Nic Cage is really amazing, Herzog does a crazy job and the pacing is great.  If you like really really REALLY gritty...

9/250: Extract
I was really excited to see this film when I first saw the trailer.  In my opinion, Office Space is a masterpiece at the same level of The Godfather.  But then I heard mixed reviews from critics and Mike Judge fan boys alike, so I missed it in the theaters.  But after watching it, I don’t know why it got such bad reviews.  There is a lot of build up through out the whole film with only a...

8/250: Give 'em Hell Malone
Thomas Jane is officially one of my favorite actors.  I don’t necessarily think he’s one of the best actors, but it’s obvious he’s doing what he loves.  Instead of worrying about how “hot” his star power is or whether the movie is gonna win any awards, he simply picks a movie if it sounds fun and fits his style.  Luckily the guy has a thing for fun, pulpy noir...

7/250: Lions for Lambs
This movie wasn’t very good.  I hate movies where you can feel the writer.  With each long theatrical monologue from one character to another, you can feel which message they wanted to push.  The conversations were completely unbelievable and the performances weren’t even on par.  The original idea is kind of interesting…three different stories all told within an hour…but...

Reason why I love the internet #389012
When I was watching the Golden Globes, I noticed Robert Downey Jr. was rocking the Tony Stark goatee.  I leaned over to Annie and said, “He’s looking very Tony Stark…do you think they’re doing reshoots on Iron Man 2?” Today, /Film posted an article asking just that.  Why does he have this goatee?  Reshoots?   Is he shooting a cameo in Thor?  /Film doesn’t...

6/250: The Hurt Locker
I can’t say I enjoyed this movie more than AVATAR, but it was really freaking good.  Probably the best war film since Saving Private Ryan and disgustingly intense from start to finish.  Jeremy Renner is finally given a chance to show how great he is.  Anthony Mackie is completely underrated as he was in Half Nelson.  But most of all, Kathryn Bigelow continues to make Michael Bay look like...

5/250: Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball
There’s something to be said for straight to DVD movies.  They are the modern day grindhouse flicks.  They’re made for no money, capitalize on bigger titles, and are generally really bad.  But you know what?  They’re fun.  Smokin’ Aces was exactly not that.  It had a lot of big stars, was generally pretty boring, and had a really REALLY melodramatic ending.  Worst of all,...

4/250: It's Complicated
Again, another movie I would have never watched had it not been nominated for some Golden Globes…and again…another movie I really liked.  This movie is fresh, fun, and adorable.  The cast is wonderful and the writing is superb.  Meryl Streep could definitely win the Globe but I have no idea how Alec Baldwin didn’t snag a nomination.  Highly recommend.

Conan O'Brien: My Hero
I remember it like it was yesterday.  I was 9 years old and my cousin Molly was staying at my house for a few days.  It was a late Monday night and she asked me if I had ever seen Jay Leno’s “Headlines.”  I hadn’t, so she turned on the TV and we watched.  Since I was nine, I hadn’t watched many late night talk shows and thought Headlines was great.  But the rest of...

3/250: Julie and Julia
I had no interest in seeing this film whatsoever.  But, of course, Meryl Streep got nominated so I had to see it.  What’s funny is, not only did I really enjoy the film, but I was able to easily relate to it.  The film is about Julie Powell, a girl who started a blog that no one read.  But it wasn’t just any blog, it was a blog with a purpose.  It drove her to complete a goal and...

2/250: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Why was this movie #1 at the box office for weeks and weeks?  Because it was great!  Pixar quality animation and story with Dreamworks wit and writing.  The voice acting stood out as spectacular and the humor was totally awesome.  Scratch this one off the list of “Must see Oscar Hopefuls.”  I highly recommend :)

1/250: Whip It
I really wanted to see this movie in the theater but didn’t have time and it was sad to see that it didn’t get very good reviews.  Now that I was able to check it out, I can see why it got some criticism.  Some of the performances were a little stiff and awkward and some points and I think that really fell on the director.  But that isn’t to say Drew Barrymore didn’t do a...
